Taryn Roeder is the Associate Director of Publicity at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. She manages Houghton Mifflin Harcourt's Boston-based publicity team and works on the publicity campaigns for dozens of books a year. Her favorite part of the process is figuring out how to translate the "story" of a book to a wider audience, and to convince print, online, and broadcast outlets to offer that story to their readers and listeners.

Taryn is a generalist working on all kinds books from major non-fiction, to fiction, memoirs, history, science, guide books, and even dictionaries! Bestselling authors she’s worked with include Temple Grandin, Paul Tough, Amy Stewart, Jami Attenberg, Dale Russakoff, Jade Chang, and the late longtime Boston Mayor Tom Menino. Previously Taryn worked at the DC-based university press house Island Press, leading the publicity department on all environmental titles, and cut her teeth in San Francisco in public relations at Schwartz Communications. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Maryland, and a BA in English/Creative Writing from Barnard College. She loves all things Cambridge, and lives in Porter Square with her two sons.
