Julie Seltzer
Torah Scribe
Hudson Valley, NY
Julie Seltzer is one of the few female Torah scribes in the world. She is working on a memoir that chronicles her spiritual journey while writing the Torah on display at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco, CA, from 2009-2011. Before learning Hebrew scribal arts, Julie worked as a baker, a middle school teacher, and for one glorious day, a shepherd. She lectures nationally on Torah writing and related topics. Her short memoir “Hydrophobophobia” was selected as a finalist for the Iowa Review in 2017. Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Julie now resides in the Hudson Valley with her Negev Desert mutt, Shusha.
