Mikey Borgard

Mikey Borgard is a graduate student in the Creative Writing Program at Colorado State University, where he holds the Tremblay-Crow Fellowship, presented to the fiction writer whose craft shows exceptional promise. He graduated summa cum laude and with highest departmental honors from the University of Illinois with a B.A. in English and formerly attended Suffolk University in Boston. Recently, he was honored with Lesley University’s Mani Iyer Scholarship for Writers Living with a Disability.
Mikey is most interested in works that concern foreign and domestic terrorism, explore time periods past, and/or experiment with lyricism and form. Among his favorite books are Atonement, All the Light We Cannot See, The Road, and Falling Man.
Mikey is actively writing a fiction novel loosely based on his experiences as a survivor of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings. He is a devotee of the Oxyford comma and a dueler of impostor syndrome. You can find him on Twitter @kitmikey, which is his pen name.
